Start construction Garak Tower

In the Seoul business district the Construction of the 130 meter high-rise building Garak Tower has commenced. Local construction company, Daerim Construction, uses the so-called ‘top-down’ method. Considerable savings in construction time are realized with this method, because work above and underground can be executed simultaneously. At present a 30 meter deep dam is being placed in the ground. 

The distinguishing feature of the design of Garak Tower is its slanted glass facade which creates a distinctive silhouette contrasting sharply with the typical rectangular buildings in the surrounding business district.The program consists of offices with a generous amount of space dedicated to commercial and cultural functions (e.g. restaurants, cafés, concert halls and exhibition areas). The office building will have 31 floors, 7 of which are underground.
